The graphic below shows
the PCSodar Advanced Configuration screen where the user can adjust signal processing and fine-tune the Model VT-1's
associated laptop computer. Most of these settings should not be
adjusted by the user without consulting ART.
The Advanced Configuration screen also provides access to
Diagnostic Mode, a unique feature of the Model VT-1 that allows
the user to record the raw data incoming from the phased-array
antenna to a disk file. The raw data can then be "played back,"
during which process the Model VT-1 operates normally except that it
reads raw data from the disk file rather than from the phased-array
antenna. This is a useful capability for optimizing system
performance and for handling intensive data sampling periods. Since
the recording of raw data consumes approximately 1 MB of disk space
per minute, care must be taken to ensure that adequate disk space is
available. In the normal data collection mode, the raw data are
analyzed and discarded, and the recorded data accumulates at a much
slower rate.
